You can just dive right in. The great thing about chalk paint is that there isn t a huge learning curve or a lot of prep work. Annie used a chalk paint wax brush which makes it easy to get into all the carving. Not too profound i know but by only using one coat of paint versus the two to three i normally give my pieces for solid coverage it makes it easier and faster to reveal more of the wood underneath therefore creating a more distressed finish with very little effort.
